Weekend Meal/Brown Bag Lunch Program at Cason UMC
Saturday mornings from 9:00am - 9:30am two bag lunches (one for Saturday and one for Sunday) are given to homeless and near homeless individuals and families, people with low incomes, senior citizens, and children in our community. This program is run in conjunction with Cason United Methodist Church located at 342 N. Swinton Ave. in Delray Beach.
Nutrition in a Knapsack
Nutrition in a Knapsack is designed to address chronic hunger among elementary-age children in public schools. It provides nutritious food to children who might not otherwise have adequate food over the weekend during the academic year. Each bag of food contains child-friendly, nutritious, shelf stable food for an average of two days (weekends).
Program goals
1. To work with selected Title I schools (schools with at least 40% of students who are from families with low incomes) to identify children receiving free or reduced lunch who also meet the criteria of being chronically hungry or having food insecurity.
2. To provide nutritious food to eligible students who might not have adequate food over the weekend during the academic year.
